Community Venues
Many of the venues used for the 2010 Winter Games were upgraded, leaving a lasting legacy for Vancouver residents to enjoy.
Vancouver Olympic Centre / Vancouver Paralympic Centre
The Vancouver Olympic Centre/Vancouver Paralympic Centre was the curling venue for both the Olympic and Paralympic curling events. It has now been converted into a community and recreation campus with a new community centre, library, skating rink and a destination indoor/outdoor aquatic facility. It is also the new home for the Vancouver Curling Club.
Britannia Training Venue
Britannia Community Services Centre was renovated to serve as the official training venue for men’s hockey during the 2010 Olympic Games. Local school children now have the opportunity to make use of the legacy sporting equipment in hockey training sessions.
Killarney Training Venue
The new ice rink at Killarney Community Centre was used as the training venue for short-track speed skaters from around the world. A new lobby connects the rink, community centre and leisure pool. The rink reopened to the public in spring 2010.
Trout Lake Training Venue
The new Trout Lake Rink, sporting an aerodynamic design, was upgraded with the technology to reduce energy and water use, creating a sustainable environmental legacy for the community. The skating rink was a training venue for international figure skaters.
Pacific Coliseum at Hastings Park
The Pacific Coliseum was showcased at the 2010 Winter Games during some of the most popular competitions; including figure skating, ice dance and short-track speed skating events.
