Host City of the 2010 Winter Games

Children wearing red

Paint the Town Red

During the Games, you couldn't get around the city without seeing red thanks to Paint the Town Red. Paint the Town Red was an invitation from the Canadian Olympic Committee and the City of Vancouver for all Canadians to cheer the Canadian Olympic Team on to victory in 2010 by wearing red, organizing a “Wear Red Day” or hanging a Canadian flag.

Through Mitts for Kids, 22,600 Vancouver school children got to wear Vancouver 2010 Red Mittens. With each $10 donated, a Vancouver elementary school student received a pair of red mittens and $1 went to the Hot Lunch programs in Vancouver’s inner-city schools. Mitts for Kids raised $22,600 for the Hot Lunch program.
