Celebration Hall and Courtyard Guidelines
General Guidelines
Catering Arrangements are the responsibility of the event organisers. Catering including food, bar service, flowers music and waste removal are the responsibility of the event organiser and must be removed from the premises immediately following the event. Rental prices do not include: catering services, rental of tables, chairs, glasses, music etc.
Food Service It is always recommended that a licensed catering company provides food service, and it is mandatory for day long or evening events that will include a luncheon or a dinner. All food must be pre-prepared off site.
Special Event Liquor License is the responsibility of the renter and must be obtained a minimum of seven (7) days prior to the event should alcohol be served. The license must then be faxed to the Assistant Manager – Business Operations at 604.323.2647
- Obtain the Serving it Right Certificate by contacting www.servingitright.com and taking the on-line exam. They can also be contacted at info@servingitright.com or 604.633.9798
- A certificate number will then be issued which must be taken to a liquor store in order to purchase the actual license for the event.
Parking & Site Access: The official address of Celebration Hall is 5445 Fraser St. Access to the site is at 39th and Fraser St. Parking is available on the side of the building in designated parking slots as well as on some roadways. Additional parking is available on the road in front of the Works Yard building.
Insurance:
(A) Private individuals, renting the Celebration Hall for memorial or other personal use without alcoholic beverages being served: no evidence of insurance is required although the City recommends that insurance be carried to protect the private individuals renting the hall.
(B) Private individuals renting the Celebration Hall for memorial or other personal use, with alcoholic beverages being served and less than 100 guests: $2,000,000 Commercial General Liability Insurance.
(C) Private individuals renting the Celebration Hall for memorial or other personal use, with alcoholic beverages being served and over 100 guests: $5,000,000 Commercial General Liability Insurance.
(D) Corporate/business rental of the Celebration Hall: $5,000,000 Commercial General Liability Insurance.
Lost and Stolen articles are the responsibility of the renter
SMOKING is only permitted in the northwest corner of the courtyard
BEVERAGES are not permitted outside of the courtyard area
CANDLES are permitted in candle holders only.
DÉCOR ITEMS must be free-standing or attached to the concrete walls only. Hanging of signs etc. is not permitted on the white walls.
PERSONAL ITEMS must be brought in and removed at the beginning and end of the event. There is no storage space available.
ADVERTISING must clearly indicate that a private event is being hosted at (not by) Celebration Hall at Mountain View Cemetery
Catering Guidelines
GENERAL GUIDELINES
- A kitchen is available for use with a separate entrance
- stove/oven are not available
- Maintenance of event such as spills is responsibility of caterer
- Mountain View Cemetery supplies in kitchen not to be used without prior permission
- Propane is not permitted in the building, but a small propane oven can be accommodated outside the entrance to the kitchen
- Sternos and butane burners are permitted
- All delivery times of rentals/alcohol to be determined by Mountain View Cemetery
- Utility closet with supplies is available in Reception
- Parking for deliveries is available outside of the gate, but vehicles need to be moved to the other side of the road after off-loading
- Please provide your own dolly
Post Event Guidelines
- Kitchen counter, floors and fridge to be cleaned
- Garbage, empties and recycling to be removed from premises
- Rentals such as tables, chairs etc. to be moved from Caradoc back into the Kitchen
- MVC tables to be cleaned and left on side of room
- MVC chairs to be stacked on dollies and returned to storage cupboard
- Rentals to be picked up at the pre-determined time
