- Food Planning for ECE and Childcare Facilities
The Social Planning Department has commissioned a set of tools to assist childcare operators in providing healthy meals and snacks for the children they look after. These tools include a menu planning guide, recipes and other nutiritional information. The tool kit is available for download on our Tools & Resources page.
- Childcare Design Guidelines Review
The City’s Childcare Design Guidelines are currently being reviewed, refreshed and updated. Social Planning Staff are working in collaboration with other City Departments to ensure that the Guidelines reflect current best practices in architecture and urban design. As part of the process, we’ve also streamlined the Childcare & Child Development Webpages and now have several useful resources available on our Facility Design & Development webpages.
- MOU on Early Childhood Development, Learning and Care Services in Vancouver
Recently, the City Manager and CEOs from a number of other public agencies that have a mandate to support children and families signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), entitled, “Advancing an Integrated Neighbourhood System of Early Childhood Development, Learning and Care Services in Vancouver.” The intent of the MOU is to support and foster opportunities to work collectively in the best interests of young children and families in Vancouver.
