Demolition and Construction Waste
Select demolition and construction wastes are accepted at the Vancouver Landfill Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 3:00 pm excluding holidays.
Effective March 1, 2012, these materials will be received in tandem and tridem trailers at $40 per tonne.
Deconstruction Permit
According to Metro Vancouver, 1.3 million tonnes of waste are generated throughout the region by construction, renovation and demolition activities. Last year the City of Vancouver supported a pilot study in which two Vancouver homes were deconstructed and 93% of the building materials were salvaged for reuse or recycling. To reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill, the City has now launched an advanced permitting process to encourage deconstruction as an alternative to demolition for 1 & 2 family homes.
