Expo Line
The Expo Line, one of the region's two SkyTrain routes, travels from Waterfront Station in downtown Vancouver to King George Station in Surrey City Centre. Much of the route follows an old interurban tram line established in 1890. The Expo Line opened in 1985, just prior to Expo '86, which had a theme of transportation and communication.
The Expo Line, Millennium Line, and Canada Line combine to make the world's longest automated driverless transit network.
Upcoming Improvements
Many upgrades are planned for the Expo Line in the coming years. Near-term improvements include:
- Faregate construction and SkyTrain station upgrades, part of TransLink's Expo Line Upgrade Strategy.
- Improvements to Main Street Station to allow for longer trains and improve passenger experience; and
- Integration of SkyTrain with TransLink's new Compass card.
