In the early morning hours of December 16, 2006 gale force winds ravaged Stanley Park. An estimated 3,000 trees were damaged and large sections of the Seawall were destabilized by the storm.

Now, almost one year after the storm, the restoration of Stanley Park is still in the minds of many including those at Spirit Wrestler Gallery. This Gallery is the international leader in art exhibitions and features museum-quality artwork from three cultures including the First Nations of the Pacific North Coast. On September 8, 2007 Spirit Wrestler Gallery hosted the Renewal of Stanley Park fundraising event.

Coast Salish artist, Susan A. Point created a limited edition woven wool Pendleton Blanket entitled "Renewal - Honouring the Spirit of Stanley Park" specifically for this event.  The design features the churning activity of orcas as they hunt and feed below the surface of the water. All proceeds from the sale of these blankets and prints of the same design went to the restoration of Stanley Park as well as to a Coast Salish public Art Piece entitled "People Amongst the People" and any future aboriginal interpretive elements to be placed within the park.

At the October 29, 2007 Park Board meeting, Spirit Wrestler Gallery presented the Vancouver Park Board with a cheque in the amount of $10,000 along with an original, limited edition Susan Point Pendleton Blanket that will be displayed at the Park Board office for all to enjoy.
