The mill’s co-owner was John Hendry, a prominent figure in his day due to his influence in developing the region’s lumber industry. In 1926, Hendry's daughter, Mrs. Eric Hamber, donated the mill property to the Park Board for park purposes under the condition that it be named for her father. The original Trout Lake Community Centre, located near Victoria Drive just south of East 12th Avenue (earlier called Grandview Community Centre) was opened in 1963 receiving major renovations and expansion in 1977. All ages and ethnic groups are served here. The new Trout Lake Community Centre is a state of the art Leed Gold facility and your hub for community recreation. Please come and visit us for a work out, dance class, art class, social gathering or cup of coffee in our new café. Our mandate is to bring together our community to provide accessible
recreational, social, educational, and cultural opportunities that promote and develop individual, family and community well being. Facilities at Trout Lake Community CentreAdministrative
