Riley-Hillcrest-Nat Bailey Stadium Parks:
Master Plan
A number of significant changes will occur at Riley-Hillcrest-Nat Bailey
Stadium Parks, located near Ontario Street and 30th Avenue, between
now and 2012. A master plan has been prepared to guide the changes.
The major changes are:
- the construction of the Curling Venue for the 2010 Winter Olympic
and Paralympic Games (to be completed by 2009);
- the construction of a city-wide aquatic centre to replace Percy
Norman Pool;
- the reorganizing of the sport fields, ball diamonds and parking
lots at Hillcrest Park and Nat Bailey Stadium Park;
- the renovation of the Curling Venue after the Olympics into the
following recreational/leisure facilities (to be completed by 2011):
- the Riley Park Community Centre;
- the Riley Park Ice Rink;
- the Vancouver Curling Club;
- the Riley Park Library;
- the Hillcrest Park fieldhouse; and
- the Park Board's Queen Elizabeth District office.
- the demolition of Percy Norman Pool, the Riley Park Community Centre,
the Riley Park Ice Rink and the Vancouver Curling Club (by 2011 or
2012);
- the greening of Riley Park (by 2012).
The following buildings will remain:
- Nat Bailey Stadium;
- the Vancouver Racquets Club; and
- the Millennium Sports Facility (home of the Phoenix Gymnastics
Club and the Pacific Indoor Bowls Club).
