Renewing Our Strategic Plan

We're updating our Strategic Plan

The Vancouver Park Board is updating its Strategic Plan, which will guide and prioritize our actions and resources over the next five years and help us deliver industry-leading parks and recreation services.

In phase 1, we engaged our Board, staff, key stakeholders and the public at large to update our strategic framework. The renewed framework includes a mission that describes core Park Board activities; a long-term vision that describes what the Park Board strives to become in the future; and four directions and nine goals to help the Park Board achieve this vision.

We are now in phase 2 of our planning process and have identified and added 25 draft objectives to the framework to guide implementation efforts. Before these draft objectives are presented to our Board for approval in mid-May 2012, key stakeholders are once again being engaged to review and validate this information. At a public information meeting held on April 25, 2012, at VanDusen Botanical Garden, participants were given an overview of the strategic planning process to date, and an opportunity to provide feedback on the draft objectives, as well as other elements of the strategic framework pdf. Additionally, thank you to everyone who provided their comments by participating in our online survey.
