Lost Lagoon Bike and Pedestrian Path Reconstruction BeginsJune 5, 2007 (No. 36) - The existing Bike and Pedestrian Path that runs along Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park will be closed to the public until the end of July while reconstruction work is carried out. Detour signs have been posted at all entry points to the path, which runs from the Park Drive tunnel at Ceperley Meadow east to the Stone Bridge, continues along the south shore of Lost Lagoon and ends at the park area at Chilco Street (adjacent to the washrooms). The project is part of the Park Board's 2005-2008 Capital Plan for upgrades to improve standards for pedestrian and cyclist safety. A new 3 metre wide asphalt path will be constructed from the tunnel to the Stone Bridge parallel to the existing path. The section of path that runs from the Stone Bridge to Chilco, which is narrow and in poor condition, will be replaced by a new, divided asphalt path. -30- For more information contact Carol DeFina, Communications Coordinator, at 604-257-8440.
