Meeting the Challenge

In early December 2007 the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation together with the VanDusen Botanical Garden Association selected the design team of Busby Perkins + Will and landscape architect Cornelia Hahn Oberlander to develop a Master Plan for the Garden. Their work resulted in a design for the following:

A New Visitor Centre to provide:

• enhanced visitor information services
• exhibit space for interpretation
• centrally located library open to all
• increased classroom space
• hands-on teaching areas
• expanded Gift Shop
• casual restaurant to accommodate Garden visitors
• capacity to increase Volunteer Services
• increased rental facilities.
