Activities Keep You Fit and Active?
Every morning, Monday to Friday,
I walk to the Roundhouse Community Centre
from my home and lead a great group in Tai
Chi and Yeun Gi for two hours. I frequently
participate in badminton and ballroom dance
programs at the Roundhouse as well!
What Motivated You to Become Active?
Ten years ago, my doctor told me I had high cholesterol. The
best solution was to get moving and start exercising regularly. I decided
to join the Tai Chi program at the Roundhouse, and over time became
more and more involved. Now, I can't imagine a day without exercise,
and the fact I now lead the group helps get me there too!
How Do You Motivate Yourself to
Stay Fit?
I enjoy sharing the morning experience
with the 10 to 25 individuals who drop-in
for the program, and find them to be a big
motivator for me too! I have made many good
friends and we are staying healthy together!
Everyone, of any nationality is welcome
to join and I like that fact that this type
of exercise has become a bridge between nationalities
and cultures.
What Are the Benefits of Being Fit?
Everyone leaves feeling healthier and generally happier. I
have to admit though that the biggest benefit to me is that I can eat
anything I want (within moderation), and still maintain my proper body
weight.
What Are Your Future Fitness Goals?
Stay active and healthy so that I can continue to have fun
and be happy!
