What Activities Keep You Fit and Active?

I make fitness part of my every day life by walking to the bus and taking the stairs. For more recreational activities, I like to go swimming and do aqua-fit classes. My favourite outdoor activities include hiking, rock climbing and summer picnics.

What Motivated You to Become Active?

When I’m active I have a clear mind and can stay focused on my priorities and routine. I get a headache if I sit on the couch too long watching TV so I include lots of activity as part of each day. In the summer, I like to go hiking with my friends. They help to keep me fit and active.

How Do You Motivate Yourself to Stay Fit?

I know about the dangers of inactivity. I want to live a long and healthy life and staying fit is a good way to help make that happen. I feel better when I exercise.

Who Are / Were Your Role Models?

My dad is a positive influence in my life. He always kept us active and taught us to rock climb and ski at an early age. In the summers, we would go on outdoor camping trips. All of my birthdays were spent in tents during our summer vacations. Family dinners were always big healthy meals with no junk food.

Favourite Things?

Being outdoors on nice days and taking my Dad’s dogs out for a run.

Favourite Quote

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
