What Activities Keep You Fit and Active?
I like to jog, work in the garden, swim, and cycle.
What Motivated You to Become Active?
As a young girl my parents dissuaded me from getting into sports
thinking it was dangerous. As I grew older I began to realize it was
the opposite, and began participating in more physical activities. The
more involved I became in active living, the more I loved the way I
felt. It's so good for you.
How Do You Motivate Yourself to Stay Fit?
For me there is nothing more inspiring than hiking in an old
growth forest with moss carpeting the trees and the murmur of a small
stream in the distance. That's what motivates me to stay fit. The toughest
part was getting started.
What Are the Benefits of Being Fit?
The benefits are endless. Psychologically I feel much happier
when I am doing hard physical exercise, and the feeling of accomplishment
is priceless. I love good healthy food, and the more I exercise, the
more I can eat without gaining weight. That's a big perk.
Who Are/Were Your Role Models?
Farley Mowat. He loves the wilderness, and tells great stories
that inspire people to explore and conserve it.
Hobbies/Interests?
I love running gardening, hiking, writing, exploring and visiting
foreign countries. I also love cooking and eating gourmet foods.
Thrills?
Rowing across oceans.
Favourite Things?
My favourite thing in the world is homemade smoked sockeye
salmon and my husband-to-be Colin if he's working in the kitchen.
