President's Message

Did you know that when you enroll in a program or class at False Creek Community Centre, or make use of the fitness centre or just purchase a membership outright to use the shower/sauna facilities, you become a member of the False Creek Community Association for the year?  The Association, governed by a Board of Directors, operates the centre in partnership with Vancouver Parks Board.  Each year on the second Monday in May, the Association holds its Annual General Meeting (AGM).  A review of the previous year including a financial audit is presented and discussed as well as a projection for the year ahead.   An election for the Board of Directors is then held.

I encourage each of you to come to the AGM on Monday May 14th at 7pm.   The meeting will be held at the community centre in Tyee Hall.  In addition to learning more about the centre, and participating in the election of the new Board, attending the AGM is also a great opportunity to meet those working to provide you with outstanding recreation, creative and social activities at False Creek CC.  Should any of you be interested in learning more about running for the Board of Directors of FCCA, please leave your name and number with the front desk staff.

It’s your community centre.  Come participate (and while you’re here – sign up for a class or two – there’s plenty to choose from).

FALSE CREEK COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION NEEDS YOU !!

Please consider running for election. The Board of Directors of the False Creek Community Association needs your energy and ideas.

What does the Board do?
The Board of Directors deals with all matters of concern to the Community Centre and is responsible for arranging recreation programs to suit the needs of the False Creek Community.

Who can be a Director?
The Board consist of 15 members of various ages with a variety of backgrounds and experience. The only requirement for nomination is a membership with the Community Centre.

How much time is involved?
The Board meets once a month where the meetings last approximately 2 hours. It is recommended that members also volunteer to sit on one other committee dealing with specific matters. At present there are four other committees – executive, finance and program. These committees hold meetings once a month lasting approximately 2 hours.
