The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation has a long history committed to the enrichment of the environment. Every action we take today has a direct effect on tomorrow and the future generations that follow. By embracing sustainability in all that we do, we can protect the climate through building green architecture and promoting active transportation. By utilizing sustainable systems in every aspect of the running and building of Vancouver, we contribute to the betterment of one of the world's most liveable cities while promising a legacy of hope.

The natural world around us in the air, earth and water, is more fragile than we ever could have imagined. It thrives with life below and above the ground, in and on the waters. Its air supplies the oxygen animals need to survive while providing a canvass for all winged creatures and the vagaries of weather that can both delight or destroy.

It is our world, the only one we have, and every step we take toward sustainability binds our purpose and cause.

This website will continue to grow. Check back as we add more information about Park Board and Partners' environmental projects and initiatives.

Electrical energy and gas saved through new measures at Lord Byng Pool are equal to powering 3 homes and heating 7 homes annually.

The grasses and reeds planted in the bio-filtration pond at the northwest corner of Lost Lagoon help remove the impurities from causeway run-off waters.
