Enjoy a beautiful winter day
on the Stanley Park Seawall
December 29, 2003 - With the holidays upon us we are all bound to find a little extra time for outdoor pursuits. Take the whole family for a walk. Here are some choice winter selections.

Stanley Park Seawall - the jewel in the crown for trotters, bladers and walkers is this eight kilometer circuit from English Bay to Coal Harbour. Better yet, extensions over the past decade now mean this walk can be extended from the beautiful new Harbour Green Park on Coal Harbour to the False Creek basin and west to Kits Beach. Take a moment to check out the new pedestrian underpass at Stanley Park's redesigned entrance - it's fabulous!

Fraserview Golf Course Perimeter - for those who appreciate their golf from afar here is a mild to moderate walk with splendid views of one of Canada's most popular public golf courses. Just 3.5 kilometers from start to finish will leave you plenty of time for a quick lunch at the course clubhouse.

Walk the Walks - Vancouver's hundreds of miles of paved sidewalks make walking an easy and accessible recreational activity. Your next walk is as close as the paved pathway in front of your house. Along the way, enjoy the silhouettes of the now bare street trees while exploring closeup the neighbourhood around you. Prevention Magazine says that a daily walk of about an hour can build bone density, help prevent some Type II diabetes and is good for the most important muscle of all - the heart.
