Vancouver's Up Front Garden Competition
April 2 - May 20, 2004
Sponsored by The Garden Club of Vancouver
and The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation

A beautiful flowering garden
in a Vancouver neighbourhood.
April 1, 2004 - The
Garden Club of Vancouver and the Board
of Parks and Recreation are sponsoring an
Up
Front Gardening Competition. The focus of this first time
event is to recognize wonderful front gardens, small and generous, that
can be viewed from the sidewalk. The sponsors believe our communities
are enhanced by interesting gardens that inspire others to contribute
to the greening of the streetscape.
One garden in each of Vancouver's 22 neighbourhoods will be chosen
for recognition.
City
residents may put forward their own gardens or nominate other gardens
for consideration. The Garden Club and Park Board will receive the nominations
and a panel of judges will select winners from each of Vancouver's 22
neighbourhoods. A framed photograph of their winning garden will
be awarded to the best Up Front gardener in each neighbourhood. Next,
three gardens will be chosen from the 22 neighbourhood winners and receive
citywide recognition. A Park Board reception in the fall will award
1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners!
