Inner City Youth Golf Program

Teeing Off on Park Board Courses

August 16, 2004 - Monday August 16th will see the second batch of new golfers take club in hand as part of Vancouver's Inner City Youth Golf Program. In all, over 80 children will experience a full week of golf instruction at McCleery Golf Course located at 7188 MacDonald Street. Park Board Golf Professional Muncie Booth from McCleery and Langara Golf Courses, was the inspiration for the program which exposes interested youth to intensive golf instruction while including a hearty brunch and many extras such as hats and tee shirts.

This is the program's fourth summer made possible by many generous donors including major support from: The Clarke Group of Companies, Able Copiers, GFFG Financial, Future Links Golf, John Berry, the Langara and McCleery Men's Golf Clubs, St. George's School, the Vancouver Park Board and the Vancouver Park Board Employee Golf Tournament Fund.

The daily sessions span from 9 am to 1 pm with golf instructors teaching the rules and values of the sport leading up to the awards ceremony on Friday which will recognize new found skills in chipping, putting, best swing and enthusiasm.
