Seawall & attractions are Open
During Triathlon World Championships
June 5th to 8th
May 29, 2008 - Stanley Park will be 'open for business' during the upcoming Vancouver Triathlon World Championships taking place from June 5th to June 8th. Spectators are encouraged to come down to English Bay to cheer on 2,500 participants in the final qualifying race before the Beijing 2008 Summer Games.
All businesses and attractions will be operating in Stanley Park during this time, although traffic and access to the West End and Stanley Park will be affected by road closures and other restrictions to accommodate set up, racing and clean up.
There will be limited vehicle access to
the west side of the park in the mornings
of Thursday, June 5th and Friday, June 6th;
no vehicle access to any part of the park
in the morning of Saturday, June 7th; and
no vehicle access to the west side of the
park (Beach Ave/Nelson St) most of the day
Sunday, June 8th. All detours will be clearly
indicated.
Residents and visitors are asked to use public transportation to the area then to make it a day by enjoying the park and its many features including:
