Dog Strategy Task Force

Introduction

On May 29, 2006, the Park Board approved the creation of a "Dog Strategy Task Force", a six member panel charged with the role of hearing from the community about dogs in the urban environment and presenting the Park Board with recommendations for a strategy to balance the needs of all park users. On September 11, 2006, the Park Board appointed the six people to the Task Force.

The Task Force met during September to November 2006, and then held three public meetings in December 2006 to hear directly from park users. The Task Force met again during January to June 2007 to work out a series of recommendations. The Task Force was scheduled to resume its meetings in August 2007, but this was delayed due to the civic strike (July 23 to October 10, 2007).

On October 29, 2007, the Park Board decided to conclude the work of the Dog Strategy Task Force with thanks. On November 30, 2007, staff prepared a summary report on the findings of the Task Force.
