Capital Plan 2006-2008A Capital Plan is a list of medium to large projects that acquire, develop, repair, renovate, replace, expand and/or improve parks and recreation services in the City of Vancouver. We have more than 200 parks and 200 buildings to take care of, and the inventory continues to grow. We also have to meet the needs of a growing population, which means providing new parks and expanding recreation services, and taking care of the parks and facilities we have. The Park Board's Capital Plan is divided into four main categories:
City Council decides the size of the Park Board's Capital Plan (i.e. how much money Park Board should receive), and it is the Park Board's responsibility to decide on how that money is allocated to various projects (i.e. how much money should each project receive). Capital plans are in three year cycles and are approved by the electorate at civic election time. The next civic election is November 2008.
