Approval Process Starts for New Restaurant/Take-Out at Kitsilano Beach Park.

July 23, 2002 (No. 50) - At its regularly scheduled meeting last night, the Park Board voted to accept a proposal to construct a new restaurant/take-out  on the existing concession site at Kitsilano Beach Park, including the redevelopment of the public washrooms and lifeguard facility. The proposal will be subject to public consultation.

Responding to public demand, the proposed facility will provide a new level of food service at Kitsilano Beach and offer a greater range of menu choice. All construction, maintenance and operating costs for the new food facilities will be borne by the project proponent, Peter Barnett.

Should the construction and other required permits be satisfied, construction could start during the winter months with completion expected by Summer 2003.
