Many Park Board Facilities Open Over the Holidays

December 16, 2002 (No. 66) - A full range of Vancouver Park Board's public recreational facilities will be open for family fun between December 26th and New Year's Day. Numerous community centres, swimming pools, fitness centres and skating rinks will host special operating schedules to meet the needs of the vacationing public within the three recreational districts of the city.

Other facilities sporting seasonal displays include the Bloedel Floral Conservatory in Queen Elizabeth Park, VanDusen Gardens Festival of Lights and the Bright Nights Christmas Train in Stanley Park. One of the most popular recreational facilities, the Stanley Park Seawall, will be available for cyclists, rollerbladers, walkers and joggers with new sections now open along Coal Harbour and around the False Creek basin allowing for a longer, uninterrupted journey. Also available for play are the Park Board's Pitch & Putt Golf Courses at Stanley Park and Rupert Park and full-length courses at Fraserview, Langara and McCleery courses (book online up to 5 days prior to play or for same day play phone individual golf courses).
