Park Board to Hold Some Regularly Scheduled Meetings at Park Board Facilities Around the City

February 11, 2003 (No. 7) - Last night at its regularly scheduled meeting the Vancouver Park Board passed a motion to hold six of its meetings scheduled for the 2003 calendar year at Park Board facilities around the City. "This is a pilot project and if it works well, we will schedule more for next year," explained Board Chair Heather Deal. "Public participation is essential to the democratic process and we know that it must be difficult for many people to travel to the Park Board office in Stanley Park, so we decided to take some of our meetings out into the communities."

Meetings will be held at 7:00 P.M. at the following Park Board facilities:

March 24	Sunset Community Centre 404 East 51st Avenue
April 28	VanDusen Botanical Garden 5251 Oak Street
May 26	Trout Lake Community Centre 3350 Victoria Drive
June 23	Mount Pleasant Community Centre 3161 Ontario Street
November 17	Strathcona Community Centre 601 Keefer Street
December 15	Coal Harbour Community Centre 480 Broughton Street
