Public Invited to Park Board Budget Open House

October 1, 2003 - The Park Board The Park Board is hosting an Open House to give Vancouver residents an opportunity to share their ideas about the Park Board's 2004 Operating Budget. The Board wants to know what residents value most and what changes or improvements they would like to see in their city and neighborhood parks and recreation services. Commissioners and staff will be on-hand to explain the budget process, discuss priorities and answer questions. Interpreters will be present at the meeting for French, Punjabi and Chinese speakers.

Those who cannot attend the Open House can share their ideas by:

  • Requesting to present their ideas at a regular Park Board Meeting 7:00 pm
    October 6, 20; November 3, 17; December 1, 15
  • OR attending a Finance Committee Meeting, 8:00 am October 2, 24
  • OR mailing, e-mailing or faxing ideas to the Park Board offices

The Park Board budget pays for a wide range of programs that improve the health and well being of residents, and connect neighbours in their communities - designing display gardens, maintaining sports fields, pruning street trees, running youth and seniors activities, operating golf courses, cleaning parks, safeguarding beaches, hosting arts and cultural events, and much more. The interim budget report for 2004 will go to City Council in early December.
