Skate with the Mayor - More Than Skating

December 17, 2003 - The Sunday, December 21st "Skate with the Mayor" Olympic Youth Legacy kick off will be more than skating- it will be be packed full of music and the arts too! Performances, workshops and demonstrations will be on tap before and after the Mayor's official opening skate, 3 pm at Trout Lake Community Centre's Ice Rink. Stilt-walkers, fire juggling, Hip Hop and Breakdancing are but a few of the exciting activities in store along with drumming and other music.

In addition, on Sunday December 21st, Kerrisdale Arena features a Reggae DJ, and West End Community Centre rink will host a Marimba performance and workshop plus a display of Brazilian martial art, Capoeira!

As part of the Olympic Youth Legacy Program for Sports & the Arts, the Vancouver Park Board and City Council will sponsor designated times for free skating and free skate rentals at Vancouver's eight ice rinks over the school holidays.
