Assignment Editors: Special Events in Vancouver Parks

Vancouver Parks host a diverse range of cultural events and outdoor activities. Listed below are some upcoming special events facilitated by the Vancouver Park Board. Polar Bear Swim at English Bay Beach Thursday, January 1st. To register for this free event be at the English Bay Bathhouse, located at Denman Street and Beach Avenue at 12:30 pm. Swim time is set for 2:30 pm. Random draws for prizes will take place from swim registration forms.

Walk With A Naturalist in the Hastings Park Sanctuary Saturday, January 10th. Join naturalist Al Grass at the south side of the Agrodome (PNE) at 1 pm for this two hour, free, guided walk. Rain or shine. Sponsored by the Hastings Park Conservancy. This invitation is not extended to dogs. Ph. 604-255-9458.

Christmas Tree Recycling on Saturday, January 10th and Sunday, January 11th from 10 am to 4 pm. Chippers will be available at Trout Lake Community Centre Parking lot, 3350 Victoria Drive; Kitsilano Beach parking lot, Cornwall and Arbutus Streets; Sunset Beach parking lot, Pacific and Broughton Streets. Donations of non-perishable food items and cash will be accepted by the Marpole and Mount Pleasant Lions Clubs to benefit local charities.

Bloedel Floral Conservatory Annual Free Day on Friday, January 30th, 10 am to 5 pm Located atop Queen Elizabeth Park this triodetic dome is home to plants from around the world and over 100 free-flying birds. Great gift plants for sale. Ph. 604-257-8556.
