Special Events in Vancouver Parks

April 2, 2004 (No. 6) - Vancouver Parks host a diverse range of cultural events and outdoor activities. Listed below are some upcoming special events facilitated by the Vancouver Park Board. Stanley Park Seawall Closed Between Lions Gate Bridge and Third Beach through the end of May. This section of the popular seawall will be closed for widening and re-paving. Further details regarding this closure with detours is posted on the home page of the Park Board Web site at www.vancouverparks.ca Ph. 604-257-8400.

Walk With A Naturalist in the Hastings Park Sanctuary Saturday, April 10th. Join naturalist Al Grass at the south side of the Agrodome (PNE) at 1 pm for this two hour, free, guided walk. Rain or shine. Sponsored by the Hastings Park Conservancy. This invitation is not extended to dogs. Ph. 604-255-9458.

4th Annual Earth Day Celebrations at Everett Crowley Park Kerr Road at 64th Avenue, Saturday, April 24th from 11 am to 3 pm. The public is invited to participate in tree planting, gardening, games, tours. Earth Day Event Information Poster 

27th Annual Plant Sale at VanDusen Botanical Garden 5251 Oak Street, Saturday, April 25th from 10 am - 4 pm. Over 35,000 plants for sale. Admission is free Ph. 604-257-8666.

Annual Vancouver Sun Run Sunday April 18 at 9 am. This 10 km run is expected to attract over 50,000 participants. Starts at 9 am downtown but takes runners through parts of Stanley Park. For details visit www.sunrun.com
