Special Events in Vancouver Parks

July 29, 2004 (No. 12) - Vancouver Parks host a diverse range of cultural events and outdoor activities. Listed below are some upcoming special events facilitated by the Vancouver Park Board. Celebration of Light July 28th and 31st and August 4th and 7th at 10:00 pm presented by the Vancouver Fireworks Society at English Bay. China, Sweden and Spain compete in this fireworks extravaganza.

Theatre Under the Stars at Malkin Bowl in Stanley Park. Opening Night - Crazy for You Wednesday, July 14th (Alternates with Footloose through Saturday, August 21st). Ph. 604-687-0714

Bard on the Beach Now thru September 26th at Vanier Park Show time 8:00 pm nightly featuring Shakespeare's Merry WIves of Windsor, Much Ado About Nothing and Macbeth. Ph. 604-739-0559

Picnic In the Park Kitsilano Community Centre's Beach Bash, on August 7th from 12:00-4:00 pm at Connaught Park, located at West 12th Avenue and Larch Street. Dog demos, carnival rides and games, pony rides and a variety of family fun on-tap. Ph. 604- 257-6976

Pride Festival August 1st from 2:00-6:00 pm presented by the Pride Society at Sunset Beach Park. Preceded by the Pride Parade starting at 12 noon marching from Denman Street to Sunset Beach.

The Nylons Concert August 22nd at 7:00 pm to benefit Theatre Under the Stars at Malkin Bowl in Stanley Park. Ph. Festival Ticket Master at 604-257-0366

Tom Cochrane Concert August 24th at 7:00 pm presented by House of Blues at Theatre Under the Stars at Malkin Bowl in Stanley Park. Ph. Festival Ticket Master at 604-257-0366
