26) - The public is invited to celebrate Earth Day on Saturday, April 23rd at Everett Crowley Park, Vancouver's second largest forested park. Volunteers can participate by helping to plant native plants and removing invasive species. Guided nature tours, music, participatory art and children's activities are also part of the celebrations. Participants should bring gardening gloves and shovels and wear good work shoes to this all weather event. Free refreshments will be available, so remember to bring a reusable mug, too. This annual project is offered through the Park Board's ParkPartners program, and organized by Evergreen Saturday, April 23rd Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22nd by people across Canada who get together to participate in environmental endeavours and celebrations at the local level. Canadians join over 500 million people from 180 countries around the world that organize and participate in a wide variety of Earth Day activities. Through community support, the 39.44 hectare Everett Crowley Park officially became a park in the late 1980s.
