Special Events in Vancouver Parks

July 4, 2005 (No. 18) - Vancouver Parks host a diverse range of cultural events and outdoor activities. Listed below are some upcoming special events facilitated by the Vancouver Park Board. Bard on the Beach now to Sept 25th at Vanier Park show time 8 pm nightly featuring Shakespeare's As You Like It, Love's Labour Lost and Hamlet. Also Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. Phone: 604-737-0625.

74th Rogers Open Tennis Tourney July 9th to 24th at the Stanley Park tennis courts near the Fish House Restaurant presented by Tennis BC . Over 75 events for junior, adult, wheelchair and senior participants, novice to professional levels. Phone: 604-737-3086.

Sizzling Sunday at Strathcona Park July 23rd 11 am - 2 pm celebrate the official opening of the new Pavilion (12 noon) in this redeveloped park with performing arts, talent show, skateboard clinic and more. Phone: 604-713-1838.

Walk with the Dragon July 17th at 9 am in Stanley Park, presented by SUCCESS . This community-based fundraising event includes the Stanley Park seawalk walk and lots of activities, food and entertainment. Phone: 604-408-7228.

Illuminares July 23rd at Dusk at John Hendry Park (Trout Lake) on Victoria Drive between East 13th and East 18th Avenues is presented by Public Dreams Society . A magical, pyrotechnic, summertime family event with paper lanterns, and a fireworks finale. Phone: 604-879-8611.

HSBC Celebration of Light July 27th & 30th, Aug 3rd & 6th at 10 pm presented by the Vancouver Fireworks Society at English Bay. Canada, Sweden and China compete in this fireworks extravaganza.

Monsters in the Meadow July 29th and Aug 5th at 9 pm in Stanley Park. The classics King Kong and Godzilla will be on tap all under the stars and courtesy of the Vancouver Park Board. Phone: 604-257-8438.
