August 31, 2006 (No. 21) - Vancouver Parks host a diverse range of cultural events and outdoor activities. Listed below are some upcoming special events facilitated by the Vancouver Park Board. Walk With A Naturalist in the Hastings Park Sanctuary, Saturday, September 23. Join guest naturalist Dale Minchin and learn how 80 or more species of birds have adopted the Sanctuary as their new habitat. Meet at the northeast corner of the Sanctuary at 10 am for this two hour, free, guided walk. Rain or shine. Sponsored by the Hastings Park Conservancy. This invitation is not extended to dogs. Bard on the Beach, June 1 - Sunday, September 24 at Vanier Park presents its annual summer Shakespeare Festival and special events. Featured this year under the tent are A Mid Summer Night's Dream; Measure for Measure; The Winter's Tale and Troilus and Cressida. Ph. 604-737-0625 or www.bardonthebeach.org

Mustang Car Display at Spanish Banks, Sunday, September 10 starting at 10 am. Sponsored by the Greater Vancouver Mustang Association. www.gvma.org Free.

Terry Fox Run starts at Ceperley Meadow in Stanley Park, Sunday, September 17 at 10 am. 10 km run but shorter courses for other groups. Help celebrate 26 years of running success! For registration and other information phone 604-464-2666 or www.terryfoxrun.org

Annual Walk for AIDS starts at Ceperley Medadow in Stanley Park, Sunday, September 24. Registration is at 8:30 am with a start time at 11 am. There are 10 km and 2 km walks to choose from. Ph. 604-915-9255 or www.bcpwa.org
