Stanley Park Traffic Advisory:
Saturday, June 28,
5am to 1pm
Tuesday, July 1, 9:45pm to 10:45pm
June 27, 2008 (No.
18) - The public is advised of two upcoming traffic advisories for Stanley Park.
Saturday, June 28, 5am - 1pm:
Park Drive at Prospect Point will be limited to a single lane for paving.
The paving is part of the realignment of Park Drive at Prospect Point. Following the windstorms of 2006 the opportunity to improve the road and parking area at the popular destination was developed as part of the park's restoration. The result will be improved aesthetics, an enhanced walking and viewing experience, and better drainage away from the escarpment above the Seawall.

Tuesday, July 1, 9:45pm - 10:45pm:
In anticipation of expected crowds for the July 1 Canada Day Fireworks at Coal Harbour, access to Park Drive from Georgia Street may be closed.
Park Rangers, working with the Vancouver Police Department, will close the entrance road in order to prevent congestion or gridlock once it is determined parking lots on the east side of the park are full. Access to the Lions Gate Bridge via the Georgia Street viaduct will not be affected.
The Burrard Inlet Fireworks Society will be staging a 25-minute fireworks show on two barges in Coal Harbour off Canada Place and on the North Shore near Ambleside Park beginning at 10:30pm on July 1.
