Park Board Chair Hundal, Mayor Robertson and City Manager Ballem Speak at Annual Active Communities ForumFebruary 25, 2009 (No. 6) - The media is invited to the opening remarks of the Active Communities annual forum which will review the 2008 accomplishments and forecast 2009 projects for "Active Communities Vancouver". Mayor Gregor Robertson, Park Board Chair Raj Hundal, and City Manager Penny Ballem will outline their commitment to encourage Vancouverites to "Step It Up 20%", a goal initiated through the Provincial Government's "ACTNow BC". 9:00 - 9:30 am Many of the attending organizations within the Vancouver Active Communities Network (VACnet) will review their initiatives that inspire and equip residents to increase their levels of physical activity. The City of Vancouver was the first municipality in British Columbia to accept the Provincial Government's 2004 challenge to increase physical activity levels of residents 20% X 2010. Active Communities Vancouver has developed a wide range of programs that target both children and adults to raise their fitness levels.
