Trout Lake Community Centre Phase 2
open house March 4

February 25, 2009 (No. 11) - The public is invited to an open house to visit the new ice rink and learn about the next phase of the Trout Lake Community Centre redevelopment project. The open house is on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm in the rink lobby, Trout Lake Community Centre, 3350 Victoria Drive.

The first phase of the Trout Lake redevelopment was the construction of the new ice rink, which is almost complete. The second phase will involve the construction of a new community centre that will replace the existing structure which was built in 1964. Funding for Trout Lake Community Centre was recently approved as part of the 2009-2011 Capital Plan. More project details are available on the Vancouver Park Board's website at www.vancouverparks.ca

The open house will also be an opportunity for members of the community to see the new Trout Lake Rink, which is nearing completion. The rink lobby and concourse features include stunning wood roof and ceiling beams made with wood salvaged in Stanley Park after the 2006 windstorms. The rink will be used as an official practice venue for figure skating during the 2010 Winter Games.
