Application Deadline for Vancouver Sport Hosting Grants Is May 31stApril 9, 2009 (No. 21) - The Park Board is now accepting applications for the second round of the 2009 Vancouver Sport Hosting Grant program. To be considered, all application forms and supporting documentation must be received at the Park Board by May 31st. The City of Vancouver granting program is intended to provide opportunities to support sporting events that have the potential to bring significant direct and/or indirect economic, social, health and community development benefits to Vancouver, advance civic priorities and/or ensure needed legacies. There are three options for grant funding through this program. Major Sport Event Operating Grants provide funds for direct operating costs up to a maximum of 10% of the total gross operating budget to a maximum of $100,000. Typical grant approvals are expected to be in the range of $10,000. Major Sport Event City Service Offset Grants can be used to offset direct city service costs related to police, engineering and parks up to 50% of an event's city service costs to a maximum of $10,000. Community Sport Event Operating Grants provide funds for direct operating costs to a maximum of 10% of total gross operating budget to a maximum of $5,000.
