Plane crash scenario in Stanley Park to create emergency preparednessMay 27, 2009 - Emergency services, in co-operation with the Vancouver Park Board, will be participating in a multi-agency plane crash scenario at Brockton Oval in Stanley Park on Thursday, May 28 from 8:30 to 11 am. The scenario, which will include actors and a simulated plane wreck and fire, will evaluate emergency procedures and protocols for emergency agencies. The public can expect minimal if any traffic impacts to Park Drive west of Brockton Lighthouse. The parking lot east of the Aquarium down to Brockton Oval will be closed throughout the scenario. Traffic on the Causeway will not be affected. Other areas of Stanley Park, including all attractions and businesses, will remain open. Measures are being taken to protect the park's natural surroundings during the exercise.
