Monsters return to the Meadow August 21

August 11, 2009 (No. 47) - Monsters in the Meadow free-B movie night is back in Stanley Park after popular demand! The Blob starring Steve McQueen will be screened on Friday, August 21 at 9pm at Ceperley Meadow near Second Beach.

It crawls... It creeps... It eats you alive! This classic 1958 horror B movie has everything: teenage love, screaming women, well meaning police and an alien life-force set to destroy life on Earth.

Admission is free. Moviegoers are encouraged to arrive early to get a good spot on the lawn. Bring a blanket or folding lawn chair, a warm sweater and a flashlight. Parking will be limited so viewers are urged to walk or bike into the site where possible.

The movie will be cancelled if high wind or rain occurs – the rain date will be Friday, August 28. Visit the Park Board website for up-to-the-minute information.

Door prize draws will take place before the screening.

The Park Board acknowledges the generous support of Coca-Cola, CIBC (Denman & Robson branch) and the West End Business Improvement Association for sponsoring this event.
