Veterans park for free Nov 4-11

October 29, 2009 (No. 58) - Vehicles displaying veteran licence plates will be exempted from parking fees in Park Board operated parking lots and parkades for Remembrance Day week, November 4 to 11.

This includes popular destinations such as Stanley Park, Queen Elizabeth Park and the Aquatic Centre as well as a number of downtown community centres.

This is in keeping with a decision by Vancouver City Council to provide free parking on City streets to veterans for Remembrance Day Week. As well this year, EasyPark, which manages and operates lots on behalf of the City, will also provide free parking to vehicles with veteran licence plates.

In September 2007, Council agreed to allow exemptions during Remembrance Day Week to honour those who served during wartime, in a post-war capacity or during a NATO or UN operation.
