Summer Camp Leaders
VanDusen Botanical Garden is seeking summer camp leaders to plan and deliver day camps for children ages 5-9.
VanDusen’s popular summer camps promote environmental stewardship and a love of the natural world through a fun blend of activities, gardening, games, crafts and garden exploration.
Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver and evaluate our Summer Camp Program
- Provide campers with an educational, fun and meaningful experience
- Maintain and prepare program materials and supplies
- Oversee the safety and welfare of campers
- Supervise, train and mentor a team of high school volunteers
Qualifications and experience
- Background in education, ecology, biology or environmental science
- Experience working with groups of children (5-9yrs), preferably in a camp situation
- Dedication to environmental awareness and sustainable living
- Current certification in standard first aid or a willingness to obtain certification prior to start date
- Valid Criminal Records Check or willingness to submit to one
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather, leading energetic activities and games
Availability & Eligibility
Required full-time, Monday to Friday from June 4 – August 28, 2012.
This position is funded in part by the Canada Summer Jobs Program. To be eligible to apply you must be currently registered as a full-time student (under 30 yrs of age) and intending to return to full-time school in fall 2012.
Wage
$15.00 per hour (40 hrs per week)
