Adapted Equipment
The following adapted equipment is available at various Park Board facilities. To ensure the equipment is available, please call ahead to the specific centre, or to 604-257-8500.
Aquatic Pool Lifts: Available at all indoor pools except for Kensington Pool, and at Kitsilano outdoor pool.
Aquatic Wheelchairs: For use at all swimming pools. Ask a lifeguard or pool staff for assistance.
Zero Entry Pools: Kits, Second Beach and New Brighton pools all have a zero entry. Hillcrest Aquatic Centre also has a zero entry to its leisure pool.
Accessible changing facilities: Hillcrest Aquatic Centre offers the most accessible changing facilities, including a changing bench in the accessible stalls.
Beach wheelchairs: Please contact English Bay Beach Lifeguard station (between Victoria Day weekend and Labour Day weekend) for information about current location of beach wheelchairs.
Ice Sledges: Are available at rinks at no cost. Please contact the rink programmer, for ideal public skate times, and to ensure availability. Wheelchairs are also welcome during public skate sessions. Participants must wear helmets, and the person pushing the wheelchair must wear skates.
Soft Path Kit: This is a temporary pathway over soft sand that allows wheelchairs to have beach access. Ask for the kit at the lifeguard station at English Bay.
Adapted Golf Cart: This is for experienced golfers who have upper body mobility, and ability to bear weight. It can be used on the course, or driving range. Call in advance to book at the Pro Shop at McCleery.
Stanley Park Shuttle Bus: This bus runs during the summer time, is accessible, and stops at 14 locations throughout the park.
