Copy and paste a map
Here are the steps to copy and paste a map image in Public VanMap:
- Open VanMap by clicking on ‘Start VanMap’ button in http://vancouver.ca/vanmap/, and then Address Search or navigate to a map area of your interest
- Prepare your map for printout by turning on/off the relevant layers (e.g. orthophotos 2009) and/or clearing any unwanted selection (unwanted green color selection, Clear selection button)
- Once you have your map view ready for printout, click on ‘Print the map’ button in Toolbox to get this ‘Print Map’ popup:

- In the Print Map popup, you may re-write your own map title, choose a print paper size, have your map printed as either a landscape (default) or portrait orientation, choose to include (default) or omit a map scale and printing date, and choose to print as a PDF or PNG image map. In this case for copying and pasting your map, you need to choose the PDF (default) format, and click on Print button to get your PDF map like this:

- In your PDF map window, move your mouse in the map area and (left) click once to select (highlight) the map area like this below, and then right-click to have a popup function ‘Copy Image’. Select/click ‘Copy Image’ to copy the selected/highlighted map image into Clipboard.

- Now you have the copied map image on Clipboard, you can use a Windows application such as Word or Paint, to paste the map image into your preferred document, by choosing the application menu item Edit>Paste
