New - Zoom GoTo by Street Name, LTO PID Number, BCA Folio Number, Plan/Strata Plan Number
Clicking on the Zoom Goto button in the toolbox, or right-clicking on the map and choosing Zoom » Zoom Goto will display the Zoom Goto dialogue box.
Category: Select a category from the drop-down menu choices:
Location: Enter a Location
Zoom to width: Specify or confirm the Zoom to width.
The way you enter your Zoom Goto 'Location' request can affect whether or not VanMap can find the requested information.
Entries are not case sensitive (i.e. you can enter any combination of capital and small letters);[top]
VanMap accepts only rounded hundred block entries for the Hundred Block search. For example, in order to find City Hall using this function, you would enter 400 W 12th (not 453 W 12th).
Where a block spans more than one hundred block, uninterrupted by a street, only the lowest hundred block number in the range exists in VanMap. For example, for 1700 - 1800 E Kent Av North, only the 1700 block can be found by using the Hundred Block search (although actual addresses in the 1800 block do exist on the map).
| Valid | Invalid |
|---|---|
| 400 W 12 | 453 W 12th |
| 400 W 12th | |
| 400 W 12th Av | |
| 1700 E Kent Av North | 1800 E Kent Av North |
| 700 Moberly | 700Moberly |
| 700 Moberley |

VanMap accepts only exact intersection entries for the Intersections search. For example, you would enter "Cambie St and W 12th Av" (not Cambie and W 12th) or "W 12th Av and Cambie St" (not 12th and Cambie). Please see the table below for more specific examples.
If you are unsure of the correct spelling of a street name or unsure of the type of street, (drive, road, crescent, etc.), use the wildcard symbol (%). For example, if you were not sure if SW Marine was a street or a road, you could enter SW Mari% and Oak St. Zoom Goto by street intersection cannot accept misspellings and syntax errors. If you receive the "unable to locate matching object" message, try again using the wildcard symbol.
Zoom Goto by street intersection is not case sensitive.

The Zoom Goto by Street Name function allows you to find a street when you don't know an address or hundred block or full street name. Just enter all or part of the street name and VanMap will return a list of all street names and hundred blocks containing what you entered. For example, if want to see where King Edward St. is, you can just enter Edward in the zoom goto dialogue box. VanMap will respond with all of the hundred blocks for both King Edward and Prince Edward streets as they are the two streets containing Edward. You then select the hundred block you want and VanMap will zoom directly to it. A wildcard symbol % in your street name entry is not necessary. Some special characters such as a single quote ' are illegal and may not be entered. There is no need to include any hundred block numbers, punctuation or symbols, unless they are part of a valid street name.

Enter the address of the site you would like to go to (check that the map width is not greater than approximately .5km or 500m or it will be very hard to view the site). If VanMap finds the address, it will take you directly to the site unless there is more than one address for this site, in which case VanMap will display a list box of other addresses that are also related to the site. Click OK and VanMap will display the site.
Note: The Zoom Goto / Parcel Address function is most useful when you know the site you are searching for does not have multiple addresses (i.e. for one-family dwellings). If you know the site has multiple addresses or you cannot find the address using this function then try the Zoom Goto Hundred Block functions.
Each parcel in VanMap is identified by one primary address, referred to as the Parcel Address. The Zoom Goto / Parcel Address function searches on these addresses only. This function cannot currently identify multiple or secondary addresses.

The Zoom Goto / Place function allows you to search for sites by building or place name. Only the more common place names, such as office and heritage buildings, hotels, schools, and parks can be found using this search.
The Place search allows for some variations and misspellings of place names and you can also enter as much of the place name as you know, in combination with the wildcard symbol (%).

The Zoom Goto/Facet function allows you to zoom directly to a specified facet. The facet identifier is made up of a letter (B to X) followed by a number (1 to 27). It is not case sensitive and can be searched in combination with the wildcard symbol (%). For example, "M20", "m20", "%20", "M", and "m" are all valid entries. If you enter only the letter portion, such as "M" or "m", VanMap would respond with a list of all the facets beginning with "M". If you enter "%20", VanMap would respond with all the facets ending with "20".

The zoom Goto by PID Number function allows you to search for properties by the property’s Land Title Office Parcel Identifier (LTO PID). The parcel identifier (PID) is a nine-digit number assigned by the Land Title Office to a parcel of land and does not change when the property’s ownership is transferred. Enter the LTO PID number without any separator (such as dashes or spaces). If more than one matching property is listed, it indicates a hooked site. You may also enter as much of the PID number digit as you know, together with the wildcard symbol (%), for example: “004900%”.
[top]
The Zoom Goto by BCA Folio Number function allows you to search for properties by the property’s British Columbia Assessment (BCA) Folio number, also known as its Roll number, which is an unique identifier assigned by the British Columbia Assessment agency to a tax property. Enter the 12-digit BCA Folio number (omitting the initial 3-digit neighbourhood code) without any separator (such as dashes or spaces). You may also enter as much of the Folio number digit as you know, together with the wildcard symbol (%), for example: “6780271%”.
[top]
The Zoom Goto by Plan/Strata Plan Number function allows you to search for properties by the property’s Land Title Office subdivision plan or strata plan number, which can form part of the legal description of a property. Multiple matching properties will indicate all those properties which share the same subdivision plan number, or in the case of a strata property, will indicate all of the individual strata lots under that strata plan. Use the appropriate plan series prefix (LMP, BCP, LMS, BCS, etc.)if applicable. You may also enter as much of the Plan or Strata Plan number digit as you know, together with the wildcard symbol (%), for example: “2173%”.
[top]
The
percentage sign (%) is the VanMap wildcard symbol and can be used whenever
you are uncertain how to enter part of a Zoom Goto request. The more information
you can enter, the more precise the selections VanMap will return to you.
Note: There is a limit on the number of selections that VanMap will return. For example, entering only a wild card symbol for the Zoom Goto Street Name search will return only the first 63 street names, in alphabetical order.
Example: To Choose from place names starting with 'city' enter city% in the location field. To choose from place names containing 'city', enter %city% in the location field. VanMap will return a list box containing all the addresses with place names that start with, or contain 'city', as shown.
