Definition:

The Facet Grid layer group contains the Facet Grid Polygon layer and the Facet Grid Layout layer. Turning on this layer group automatically turns on both layers.

The Facet Grid Layout layer adds a grid to the Facet Grid Polygon layer to make it easier to navigate to a specific facet. It is always available; however, once you have zoomed to a scale smaller than 1:108,000, the edges of the layout layer are no longer visible.

There are two ways to use this layer; the result is the same, just slightly different methods. Both methods require the facet grid layer and the facet grid layout layer to be turned on.

Method One:

  1. Ensure no other layers are turned on, particularly the Administrative and Service Areas layer.
  2. Left-click once on a specific facet to highlight it; right-click on the map and choose GoToSelected. The map will zoom in on the facet to a scale of proximately 1:3,600.
  3. A map tip will appear with the facet number. Right-click on the map, choose UnSelect (to change the background colour back to white) and turn on any required layers from the legend.

Method Two:

  1. Right-click on map, choose Select > Map Objects. This brings up the Select Map Features window.
  2. Select Facet Grid Polygons under Map Layers, under Map Features select the desired facet. Click OK. The selected facet will be highlighted on the map.
  3. Right-click on the map, choose GoToSelected and the map will zoom in on the facet at a scale of approximately 1:3,600. A map tip will appear with the facet number.
  4. Right-click on the map, choose UnSelect (to change the background colour back to white) and turn on any required layers from the legend.
