Using VanMapLite

Select the Start VanMapLite button on the left to start VanMapLite. The Terms of Use disclaimer screen will appear every time you start VanMapLite; select OK or the Enter key to continue.

Layer Lists

The Layer List displays the layer names. All layers are always on, except for the orthophotos. Each layer is on only at specific scales so the screen is not so cuttered. The symbol representing the layer information is also shown (clicking on the symbol will open a separate page displaying additional information on the layer).

All the layers of information available in VanMapLite are displayed in the Layer List; however, not all layers display all the time. For example, property address numbers cannot be viewed until you have zoomed in several times. If you do not see the information you are expecting, zoom in (or out) further.

Orthophotos

Select the 'On' button or 'Off' buttons to show or hide the orthophoto layer.

Clicking once on About Data, then clicking Go, will open another VanMap web page listing the layer names (with links to definitions, if available), where the information comes from, how frequently it is updated and the City department responsible for the information. It also displays the scale at which the information becomes visible and this will give you an indication of how far you need to zoom in to view the particular information. All VanMap layers are displayed on this web page, not just the VanMapLite layers. This is a very useful page, please take a moment to browse through it.

Clicking once on Disclaimer then clicking Go will open the The Terms of Use disclaimer page giving you the full details of the disclaimer.
