Definition:
Valves refer to control valve which allow or disallow water to flow through a water pipe. Large valves are valves greater than 300mm in diameter and are located on the larger Transmission or Dedicated Fire Prevention Systems. Small valves are valves 300mm or less in diameter and are located on the Distribution system. Service valves are located on lateral water lines servicing residential or commercial buildings. Hydrant feeder valves are located on laterals servicing hydrants. Note that for many assets such as hydrants, laterals, and mains, the distance to the nearest property line is recorded as part of the valve information. For more information, go to Waterworks
