2007 notable award received by the City of VancouverGreen leaves

City awarded Green City Award by the Province of BC

The City was named as the province’s greenest large city for cities with populations of 100,000 or more by the Province of British Columbia at the Union of BC Municipalities conference.

The Award recognized the City for the quality of its planning and programs that result in a liveable and more sustainable city. It also recognized the City’s efforts to reduce its ecological footprint through programs like One Day, which encourages individuals to take small steps to reduce energy use, the City’s green streets and lanes, and the City’s requirement that all new civic facilities achieve a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design - Gold rating.

Killarney PoolKillarney Leisure Pool - Outstanding Sport and Recreation Facility

The Killarney Leisure Pool was one of 10 buildings chosen as an outstanding sport and recreation facility by Athletic Business Magazine for their 2007 achievement awards. It was one of only two Canadian facilities recognized. The award went to the Vancouver Park Board and the architectural firm Hughes Condon Marler.
