Approved Use of a Building
Staff in the By-law Administration and Records Services Branch is responsible for confirming the current approved use for both commercial and residential properties under the Zoning and Development and the Building by-laws. The required written request
(14kb) and the appropriate fee must be submitted in person, and the cost will vary depending upon the type of building. Please refer to the Fee Schedule

Who can request the approved use of a building?
- Anyone may make a request.
Can a request for this information be made online?
- As a fee is required for this service and currently payment online is not available, you must therefore come to the By-law Administration office in person at the Second Floor of the East Wing, 2675 Yukon Street.
How long does it take to receive the information?
- The response time will depend upon the volume of requests and the complexity of the research involved. On average, requests will be responded to within one working day.
How do I receive the information?
- At your request, you may have this information mailed, faxed, or picked up at the by-law administration counter.
